I love Rui's strong mother. This story is so real to me. I mean, what Rui goes through can happen to anyone! Rui’s just one of the fortunate ones to have a happy ending after he new beginning. There’s also a surprise that totally made me cry at the end . Love the epilogue. (Shoujo) - Shuugaku Ryokou no Susume [Status: Oneshot] [Downloads: MangaTraders] - Yuuka is on a school trip to Kyoto but she's in the same group as her ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend, so she ditches her group and goes off on her own--only to bump into a classmate doing the same thing.
I worried that it was going to be some really cliche, possibly waff-y thing (I was in the mood for something different) but it was so unique and lovable! I love Yuuka's character, she greatly amused me, and I just loved their 'adventure'. The end was extremely wonderful and gave me the warm and fuzzy feelings after all. I would definitely reread this! (Votes: 2) - Ousama Game [Status: Oneshot] [Downloads: Sweet Lunacy, MangaTraders] - Nene was sent by her King to assassinate his brother. She's surprised to learn that the young King is a bit of a pervert, but not only that - he catches her in her very first attempt! It seems he's used to people trying to kill him, but surely none of them received Nene's punishment...
I went in not having any idea what I'd think about this one and came out grinning ear to ear! There's just this amazing balance of humor but serious enough to keep me wondering. I really like the design for the King and how Nene gets put in so many outfits. *grin* The grammar could have used more quality-checking and the font can be a little hard to read. Those are my only complaints. (Shoujo) (PG)

- Shinji Ikari attends the NERV Foundation Academy and lives a life of relative normality. One night he encounters Rei Ayanami and Kaworu Nagisa fleeing the scene of a violent explosion and is eventually recruited to assist them and Asuka Sohryuu Langely in fighting the Angels, who have taken on human form, in order to retrieve their cores to support the world tree, Yggdrasil. Should the Yggdrasil die, their world would be thrown into a chaotic state where parallel streams of existence collide, eventually bringing about the destruction of all things. - Baka-Updates
Fess up time. I stopped watching the Neon Genesis Evangelion anime quite a bit ago, mostly due to laziness, but then I found out how crazy(er) it gets and I'm not really into tragic tales so I decided to drop it. I haven't read the manga either. I have read spoilers and bits of the various manga stemming from it, but Gakuen Datenroku makes the first that I finished fully. What got me to try it in the first place was that I wanted to see if Kaworu would have a better ending for once. While I won't spoil his ending, I will say that it didn't make me cry! Actually, the ending of the manga was a bit too fast for me, I'd have been happy to read several more volumes and maybe wrap up some things... But for what it is, this was a very enjoyable manga that I'd love to reread sometime. For BL fans: I was pretty happy with the stuff between Shinji and Kaworu, though sometimes it was like it stopped just short of actually being even subtext, but the ending is interesting and leaves room for interpretation. Yuri fans: There were a few moments that I felt were a little shippy, though I was there had been more! (Shounen) - Kuroko no Basuke [黒子のバスケ] [Alt titles: Kuroko's Basketball, Kuroko no Basket(ball)] [Status: Onegoing] [Downloads: @ MangaTraders, @ MangaShare] [Alt for reading online: @ OneManga] - Kuroko used to go to a middle school that had a basketball team with five main players known as "The Generation of Miracles". When Kuroko left, the five all split up to go to different schools. No one seems to know who Kuroko is, because he is often 'transparent' to the people around him. One Kagami, transferring back from America, recognizes him however, and after Kuroko seems him play, tells him that he wants to be the 'shadow' to Kagami's 'light' in order to defeat The Generation of Miracles and to play basketball the proper way - as teammates.
It reminds me a bit of Eyeshield 21 in the way that all the characters have great motivations, plus the teamwork. And that each character has an interesting quirk. XP I love Kuroko - his expressionless face cracks me up sometimes, and the way he just disappears in the middle of a conversation, haha! Kagami is great as well. I love the whole light & shadow thing, and I like that we're getting to know the resit of Seirin now as well. I also love the other characters - Kise, Midorima, their 'lackies' and such. I'm really looking forward to more of this series! ♥ (Shounen)
